WE ARE MOVING AT LAST!
We will be moving within Vernon on October 26th! Our phone will be the same. Our new home is very spacious - great for entertaining, etc. We will enjoy central air for the first time. The 2 1/2 bathrooms are exquisite (granite countertops, the main with 2 sinks in the vanity!). The kitchen is a touch smaller, but very stylish (black granite counter, off-white glazed-finish cabinets, a pantry, and an adjoining breakfast nook). The living room has a stone fireplace, an upright piano, and a wooden cathedral ceiling with recessed lighting. The bedrooms are larger; the master has a huge walk-in closet. The downstairs is heated and finished with laminate wood floors. There is one large room with bookshelves, a bar, the laundry, and a 1/2 bath, and 2 smaller rooms which could be bedrooms or offices, etc. The garage is bigger with new doors. Through sliding doors from the breakfast nook room is a large raised wooden deck which overlooks the back yard. The yard is very tranquil - some tall pine and oak trees provide partial shade, an apple tree is on the side, and a nice Kloter Farms shed will house many tools, etc. The neighborhood is much more quiet than ours is now.
Perhaps it was better that we didn't get our first choice of house (in South Windsor); it would have been more than we wanted to spend. We really tried to move there for the better schools, but we decided on our second choice - a larger house in Vernon for less money where we'll be in the best elementary school district anyhow (and 9 years before the middle school that we're worried about - things could change by then). Our third choice house in Vernon had an inground pool, which would have been nice, but not necessary.
We can't wait to move in and start furnishing (and having wall paper come down). Things will be hectic for a while, but I'm glad our summer spent showing our house will finally pay off. Historically, it was a great time to take advantage of lower house prices and interest rates.
