We had Thanksgiving at MaryJane and Bob's (shown above) (Christina's mom's sister's place) in Trumbull this year with Nonni and Papa. We enjoyed a full-sized feast along with the traditional tasting of Uncle Bob's homemade wines (red Zinfandel and white). We were also treated to 2 quart jars of Uncle Bob's home-grown canned tomato which Christina later made into sauce by adding a little garlic, basil, olive oil, red wine, salt and pepper - the result was the most delicious sauce I've had.
Earlier this spring, we saw Uncle Bob planting his tomatoes in the large backyard garden. MaryJane expressed concern that despite Bob's immunity to poison ivy he might carry some into the house. This may have caused Megan some fear of his presence. Megan has gradually overcome her fear of Uncle Bob (also due in part to his large stature and limp from a bad hip), occasionally asking to visit, now that she understands things better.
