We took a long early October weekend off of work to make a quick trip to Delaware to visit mom and dad, and Jamie, Steph, Rosie, and Rhys. Megan and Rosie got to have a "sleep over" at mom and dad's (and they actually slept pretty well thanks to mom and dad's bedtime stories and a lot of physical activity) and they also got to go to the Winterthur estate together. We also celebrated Rhys's 2nd birthday and mom made a nice dinner for all of us. Thanks to mom and dad for their hospitality and for entertaining the kids. Although we dislike the driving, the moments we had, reflected in the above photos, are priceless (and few and far between).

Bonfire
Megan was treated to a visit by Grammie and Grampy last weekend. They took her to swim class and then to the Four Town Fair in Somers. Christina and I would end up going with Megan to the fair the next day because we had never been to that fair. I enjoyed watching a competition whereby 2 strong horses yoked together would drag a sleigh holding cement blocks weighing over 5000 total lbs for a total of several yards. Talk about horse power!
The highlight of the weekend, however, was Teri and Dave's bonfire Saturday night. Megan enjoyed roasting marshmellows over a raging fire pit that Dave kept going with wood pallets. Grammie and Grampy, Gigi and PopPop, Sonia and Dennis, and Harold and Marge joined the circle around the fire as Harold, Grampy (dad), and myself took turns playing our accoustic guitars. Harold stole the show while dad and I backed him up during his rest breaks. I'm still playing John Denver's "Country Road" in my head...

Grammy and Grampy Visit
Grammy and Grampy travelled up from Delaware to visit last weekend. On Friday night, we met them and Great Gram and Great Auntie Linda at Paul's Pizza for our traditional dinner get together. We then went over to Gram and Linda's for a nonbirthday celebration (Megan celebrated her nonbirthday like we used to when we were kids, with goodies). On Sunday, Megan spent the afternoon with Grammy and Grampy while Christina and I got some chores done. I finished staining and framing our bathroom mirror, which added a nice touch to the recently new paint job in there. Sorry, no pictures from our camera.
