Easter Weekend 2012

Friday after work I arrived home at the same time as the UPS man, who delivered us a present - chocolate covered strawberries (Megan's favorite) from Grammie and Grampy!
On Saturday, our family along with "uncle" Ryan and his "little brother" Johnny, helped with the set up of the neighborhood Easter egg hunt. It was Megan's 3rd time, but my first chance to see her (it used to be held during the work week when only Christina went with her). The neighborhood teenaged girls have taken turns being the Easter bunny, so approximately one decade from now, Megan gets her chance..
Saturday night we all had a cookout and campfire with the firepit. I cooked my halibut on the fire and we roasted marshmellows. Uncle Ryan started us with a "take-your-turn" ghost story, which Megan is still carrying on about today.
On Easter Sunday, Megan searched for her Easter Eggs and played with her gifts from the Easter Bunny. We then went to Nonni and Papa's for an early feast.

Easter

Megan enjoyed the second annual neighborhood Easter egg hunt at the soccer field up the street. This year, however, she was not afraid of the Easter bunny because it was her favorite friend, Chelsea (our next door neighbor).

Now, she believes that Chelsea IS the Easter bunny. If you ask her where her presents came from, she says "Chelsea the Easter bunny brought them".

Megan and Christina enjoyed Easter brunch at Nonni and Papa Turley's house. Daddy stayed home recovering from a stomach bug.

Easter at Nonnie and Papa's

This year we spent Easter at Nonnie and PaPa's house. Nonnie spoiled Megan a bit much. Bailey made out pretty good too. I'm not complaining, though - Christina and I still get our own baskets too! Papa used his fishing line to hang easter eggs in the yard for Megan to find.

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

Christina was very excitied to find a flier attached to our mailbox inviting us to the annual neighborhood Easter egg hunt. We love this neighborhood. Just up the street is a secluded grassy soccer field where 20-30 kids gathered on Good Friday to celebrate and find 20 eggs each (each parent supplied 20 eggs per child attending). A neighbor dressed up as the Easter bunny - Megan was a little scared of her. But she did well with her egg hunt. Parents also brough refreshments. It was a beautiful day. I had to work that day, but I'm enjoying some of Megan's Easter candy nonetheless!

Easter 2009 at our House

We had Easter at our house this year with Mom and Dad S. and Mom and Dad T., Gram S. and Linda, and Unlce Don.

We are starting to become more comfortable with hosting holidays at our house, but it is also lots of work (setting the menu, shopping, cleaning, getting Megan dressed up and keeping her clean, getting furniture set up for enough seating, cooking, serving, etc.) and the house is starting to feel a bit small. Of course, it also helped that everyone brought a dish too. Now we can appreciate all those years at mom and dads, gram and gramps, and aunts and uncles without having to lift a finger!
Regardless, it is a lot of fun to have everyone over to watch Megan enjoy her first more memorable holidays. She enjoyed gifts that were brought, jelly beans, and lots of attention. Bailey enjoyed plenty of table scraps and attention too. Thanks everyone!
Megan has been getting good at using a spoon to feed herself, but not without a mess yet! (see below) She has also been able to walk throughout our bumpy yard with fewer falls.
