Disaster Averted allows for Happy Halloween 2012

We were very lucky this year to have missed the worst part of a second annual hurricane.  But other non-central parts of CT were without power for over a week, and flooded if too near the shore as a result of "Super storm" Sandy.  The areas around Ohio, West Virginia, and maybe Pennsylvania seemed to get the freak blizzard conditions which we experienced here last year.  The Jersey Shore and New York were devasted by flooding from the storm surge, mass power outages, depleted gasoline supplies, and an inoperable mass transit system.  Our family all checked in "relatively" o.k., the most affected are probably cousins Kristen and Jenny, who are in New York!

We only lost power for 24 hours and started moving into Gigi and Poppop's, but hadn't had to stay long.  The weather was warm enough intially, but has now chilled making coping more difficult for those still affected.

So, Megan got to enjoy a normal night of trick-or-treating this year in our neighborhood.

I was able to finish raking the leaves this weekend after picking up a few small branches.  Our newly planted tree survived after being staked down securely.
